Mohammad Azhar ul Islam

Senior Advisor / Vice President Business Development

Mohammad Azhar-ul-Islam was commissioned in the Pakistan Army as a second Lieutenant in the infantry in April 1965.

He graduated from the Command and Staff College in 1975 and served in various command, staff and instructional posts. He retired from the Army in 1977 and migrated to the USA where he worked in the private and corporate sectors. He also worked on various contracts with the US army in the production of training material for use by the US Army Infantry. On returning to Pakistan in 2011 he associated himself with the Group as an Advisor / VP Business Development to the Chairman / CE.

Col. ® Shujaat Ghumman

Senior Vice President

Col. ® Shujaat Ghumman has been working with PEL for the past 11 years, as Advisor to Chairman / CE on Government relations. He holds Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic & War Studies.

Mr. Ghumman was part of the Pakistan Army in the Regiment of Artillery, where he served in countless assignments relating to Operational, Instructional and Human resource. He ended his service with the Army by leading the first Contingent of Pakistan Army to the Peacekeeping of UN Assignment in Bosnia.

Upon completion of assignments, with the UN, he was inducted in UN Peace Keeping Department, Headquartered in New York, where he worked on numerous assignments in various countries in the World.

Shahid Ahmed

Advisor / Head of Exploration & Corporate Affairs

Shahid Ahmed has over 35 years of experience in upstream oil & gas sector. He has worked both in the Government as well as the Private sector. His main areas of expertise are petroleum management, petroleum exploration, policy formulation and upstream regulation including commercial and legal matters.

In the MPNR Mr. Ahmed worked as Director General Petroleum Concessions and DG Oil while in the private oil & gas sector he held the positions of Advisor Corporate Affairs & Special Projects (Mari Gas), Vice President Exploration & Production (Saif Energy) and Advisor/ Head of Exploration (Petroleum Exploration (Pvt) Ltd). He has been associated with the company for more than 15 years.
